This blog is dedicated to Tulip the Cat and her new friend Miracle.
Tulip is blind. She was born with a condition called anophthalmia, meaning she had no viable eyeballs. Her eyes had to be removed, and her eyelids were sewn shut in order to prevent infection. This gives her her cute, sleepy appearance.
Miracle is also blind. However, we’ don’t know if she was also born with anophthalmia, or if she suffered some sort of trauma which damaged her eyes. Miracle’s eyes are also surgically sealed, but unlike Tulip, she still has tear ducts. Her eyes water frequently creating black “eye boogers” that need to be cleaned.
We adopted both cats through a local shelter-animal advocacy group called FOCAS. This blog is dedicated to Tulip’s and Miracle’s adventures in their new home, and our adventures as owners of blind cats.
